Combat is sooooooooo rubbish i dont understand why they would release it like this . please add AI because your combat is seriously lacking. An hour into the game you will run into an impossible puzzle thats not exactly a puzzle but a relex test. Unless you have the reflexes of a 15 year old or a much older and wiser jedi, you will be stuck there and it will be the end of the game. I got this game expecting puzzles to test my brain. what i got was arcade hell from 1985.. I didn't play the previous games so I will not refer to them.Sedna is an Isometric action game with optional tactical mode (it is sometimes helpful). The fighting is ok, but it could be more fluid and dynamic, the biggest problem is the stupidity of artificial intelligence of the enemies and companions. In the game there are numerous logical puzzles, which can sometimes make it hard but in the general they are an attractive addition to the game. The game has its flaws, but it is worth recommendation.. First of all I should mention that I am huge fan of the original two games and therefore have waited many years to finally get a new installment. Needless to say that when this game got announced and successfully funded I was extremely hyped.However with the presentation of the gameplay style my first concerns developed because of how different it was from the original games. The gameplay is also one of my main points of criticism. It includes basically all of the features of the original games and that is something that I highly appreciate. But on the other hand the game included a new tactical pause with special abilities for each of the characters. Both of which are not a bad idea but the execution is a bit off if you decide to combine both elements. The special abilities feel like from a Moba game wich is suiting for the isometric view and with only one character they work completely fine. But if you have to play more than one character at the same time it gets a bit problematic. Some abilites just don´t really work with the tactical pause. Because of this you have switch between the real time and the pause feature more often that planned just because some characters didn´t do what you ordered them to do. This sadly makes the gameplay serviceable at best. But to be fair the gameplay was not the greates either in the original games. So you can get over this issue. Everything else regarding the original games is absolutely spot on. The puzzles are just as challenging as in the previous games with many simular approaches. The graphics and the many cutscenes absolutely nailed what made the originals so great. To be fair in one or two scenes the cel shading looks a bit off but this rarely happens. The main characters and their chemistry together are still just as rememberable as in the previous games. The new voice actors also do a good job sounding like them but on occasion the delivery is a bit off putting. The story also feels like the original games thanks to the involvement of the original writer. This of course leads to some a bit cheesy sounding lines but i dont see this as a negative point because the original games were just like this. Overall i really enjoyed the story that even included multiple endings just like the originals. It seemed somewhat basic because of its purpose to introduce this old series once again but it still included some good twists, environments and atmospheric moments thanks to its characters and designs. In general I enjoyed my time with Fear Effect Sedna however I can totaly see why a lot of people didn´t seem to like it this much. If you are not a fan of the original games this game just doesnt offer enough in the gameplay. You already have to like the series to enjoy this game to its full potential. If you do I highly recommend this game just to see these characters back together. The developers also have shown with many references and classic moments that they are huge fans of the games. And as a fan myself I just have to appreciate the work they have done.So as a fan of the series totally check this game out and even if you cant get over the gameplay problems there is a remake of the first game on the way. Buying this game will ensure that we will see the Fear Effect series again in its full glory and even just for this purpose I would definetly give this game a go.. Kickstarter backer. very disappointed with this game. * Horrible controls, from late 1990's.* No mouse support in the game. You can't even point and click to steer your character to a position.* No native support for Xbox controller, controller icons are PS4 only.* Launched the game, got greeted with Press Start. I pressed start on active powered Xbox controller, nothing. Then pressed every key on keyboard, NOTHING happened. Pulled up Task manager and killed task.* Controls: Although my default controller in Windows was XBOX, it doesn;t seem to be recognised or supported. Steam Big Bicture was required enable PS4 controller 'help'. Restarted in Steam Big Picture, did PS4 controller seettings, launched the game and was then able to start 'Press any key'. Only to find that one can't interact using mouse. Avoid Fear Effect Seedna and buy Invisble Inc (also isometric) has mouse support, frequently on sale with Steeam Workshop support. * PS4 workaround found after trawling forums. This is a HUGE mistake/oveersight by developers. * Not optimised ! 23 fps on Ryzen 1600X w/32Gb Ram, Radeon RX 480 + SSD's. For a game with static visuals this is terrible. Other games I own runs at least 30 fps in 'high' with the same rig.* No tutorial or simple introduction mission. No obvious indication on what to do. * Non exiting user interface. No on screen prompts for map or any other indication of controls.* No icons on doors to indicate what to do. Within the first minute of the very first mission my character got in front of a (lockeed?) door, there was no icon to show 'press F to open door', forget about "You need XYZ to open the door". Nothing. I exited the game. Unlikely to return.* Posted the error in Steeam forums, a forum mod responded but no response freom developer.* Posted faults on Facebook page, got slapped as spam. * Did the devs ever bother to look at steam hardware statistques/enquette ? No !* Since release, no patches ! Not that I have noticed anyway.. expected soemthing similar to other isometric games, instead had some messy arcade like shooter that takes no startegy because the enemy will just walk right to you and shoot. Took 10minutes and refunded the junk how embarrasing. I've waited for this game for some time and I'm not disappointed! It sure is different from the FE 1 and 2, but it has its own style. Fear Effect Sedna gives you an opportunity to play the way you like it, sneaking through the levels or using a tactical mode to shoot your opponents in the face with guns and unique abilities. I do recommend this game for its diversity and interesting story it has to offer.. Terrible game, waste of time and money.
